I actually like the Subtle mind exercise better
than the Loving Kindness exercise. With
the Subtle mind exercise, I found that my mind did not wander as it did with
the Loving Kindness exercise. I think
the reason for this is because it had me focusing on my breathing. When my mind started to wander, I would just
take my focus back to my breathing. What
I learned doing this exercise is that I can slow my mind from all my busy
thoughts, which is a nice change of pace.
I found both exercises to be relaxing and they both brought me a sense
of peace. What I thought was different
about them is that the Loving Kindness exercise had us focus on others while
the Subtle mind exercise had us focus inward on ourselves.
Both of these exercises are beneficial to my
spiritual, mental, and physical wellness.
Although they are separate parts of my being, they are interrelated to
each other. In doing these exercises, I
have noticed my spirit becoming healthier.
This is making me a much happier person mentally, which is helping me to
continue feeding my body right and getting the proper amount of physical fitness. When my spirit is not doing well, negative
feelings and emotions tend to run high, which causes me to be down and then I
stop caring about my physical wellness.
It is imperative to acknowledge the connection between mind, body, and
spirit because the one affects the other.
Hey Kristen
ReplyDeleteIt seems like the whole class liked the exercise for this week better than the loving kindness exercise. We all just found this one exercise to be more relaxing. Breathing exercises are much more relaxing in my opinion. When I find myself getting mad at someone I just have to tell myself to just breathe. I had to do this the other day because these stores have the customers thinking that they are just right about anything. The customer had the nerves to call me a stupid ass cashier. I just had to catch myself because I was about to go off on her. I just let a manager finish with her and I just went and started focusing on my breathing to get me back relaxed. I find it interesting how just breathing can change your whole mood.
From browsing this exercise seems to be the favorite it just was so much easier to get focused and stay focused. I experienced the same thing my mind did not wonder like on the other one. I often have to stand back and breathe for a few moments. I work in the real estate industry and sometimes with closing there are 5 or 6 other people that have to get their work done in order for us to close and my client to have a house or sell a house and for me to get paid, I used this exercise this week because I did go off and this helped bring me back hell I am still a little heated about the whole thing they get paid by the hour I am commission so I guess they do not understand the importance of closing something on time
